Maintenance Program

Didn't quite make it to the 21 days this go round....more like 14 and some change. :)  However, I have seen many changes in my appetite, energy level and the girth in my belly! I've had a few people remark on me having lost some weight.  My stomach looks flatter.  When I eat, I can't eat the same quantity of food and I am very aware of feeling too full.  Kind of like I know what "full" feels like now (as opposed to before when I would just keep eating).  I am essentially eating vegetarian foods....the detox made the transition much easier. As long as I get some form of protien in every few hours I feel pretty good and satisfied.

My energy level is much better than before.  The sluggishness has subsided. I walked almost 7 miles yesterday and I feel great today. My skin has also started to improve which I am VERY happy about.  I  hope in another month my complexion will have cleared again.  It's amazing what too much caffeine and sugar can do.

So all in all I'm feeling great about this transition.  I do plan on doing it again, but I will have to choose a time (hopefully in February) where I know I won't have many eating functions to tempt me! :)

So going forward I look forward to getting back to being vegetarian or at the vary least a flexitarian who eats like a vegetarian most of the time!  I'm excited about it and I'm glad to see those around me making a few changes as well. :)

Trying times, E-book and YouTube

I've had some trying times in the past week or so.  I guess because I expend a lot of energy all day long by tranining people and constantly moving, I have had some SERIOUS protein cravings.  Sometimes I supplement that with nuts and beans but I really have to prepare if I do beans.  That's extra work on a tight schedule.  Fish and an egg here an there has stopped me from eating my young!!!!  I can tell know that this will be a process for me.  I've decided to add some time on to the back end of my 21-days because I've slipped when I felt weak. But at the same time, I'm  not beating up on myself about it.  The goal for me is many fold:

  • Have more energy (check!)
  • Reduce the abdominal bloating (I've noticed quite a difference in the past few weeks)
  • Eat more fruits and veggies (that has been unavoidable!)
  • Lose weight (I'm down to 183 now - from almost 190 when I started, I think a good portion of that is excess WASTE not weight....thus the reduction in bloating)
  • Get some of my cravings under control (still working on coffee but everything else has improved)
So the process overall is going well.  I'm pleased and I look forward to continuing.

My camera is jacked up right now, so I'll be doing a lot of writing until its fixed.  Please check out the following websites:

http://www.stopyourtoxiclife.com/transform  - There is a book at the bottom of the page that will give you information about detoxing if you are a beginner.  They are E-books and you get both for $14.95.  If you are local to the Atlanta area there is a center available as well if you need additional healthy living help.

Also check out my YouTube Channel - http://www.youtube.com/analoggurl - It has some of the videos I could not upload onto the blog.

Live Well,

KIDS LIKE IT TOO!

Queen Afua's Kidney Liver Flush

This Kidney Liver Flush by Queen Afua will clear mucus from the whole body, aid in the elimination process of old waste in the colon, liver and kidneys and help to metabolize fats (just to name a few).

See Demonstration at :  www.youtube.com/analoggurl
INGREDIENTS:
  • 8 oz. distilled or purified water
  • pinch of cayenne pepper
  • juice of a lemon or tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar
  • 12 drops of liquid kyolic or two cloves of crushed garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of each - olive oil and castor oil
Blend ingredients in a bullet or blender (I just use a fork and wisk it since it's all liquid).

Drink first thing in the morning (or as early as possible).  I like to chase mine with orange juice or grapefruit to remove the taste from my mouth.  Give it some time to settle in your stomach (about an hour at least), then follow with your breakfast (whole fruit or a vegetable or fruit smootie work well).

Detox Symptoms

TYPICAL DETOX SYMPTOMS:

Headaches
Heavy Breathing
Flatulance
Weakness/Fatigue/Dizziness
Fever
Mood Swings
Skin eruptions
Lack of Patience/Mood Swings
Nightmares
Blurred Vision, etc.

Symptoms will depend on how toxic your body is and how you prepare to go into the detox.  You can prepare by slowly eliminating the toxic substances from your diet.  Since the thorn in my side is coffee, I started tapering off on my consumption.  That in turn decreased my desire of other things that sugar makes you crave like alcohol and starchy foods (which can both be forms of sugar once it breaks down in the body).  The funny thing about the body is that the more you feed it the things it doesn't need, the more it will crave it (sugar, salt, caffiene, nicotine and all other forms of drugs).

In my profession, I tell people everyday that the opposite also applies.  Feed the body what it does need and it will release the excess.  In other words, if you feed the body adequate amounts of water and quality food with nutrients, minerals and vitamins essential for life, it will release the excess weight.  Excess weight can show up as bloating thoughout the body and in the abdomen area, as well as, fat storage. The body thinks it is starving so it holds on to every drop it can.....until you give it what it needs.  Drink more water and eat good food and your weight will drop.

Not rocket science but it presents some people with a challenge.  With Challenge comes Progress.

Peace,
TeMika

21-Day Detox Introduction

My name is TeMika.  I want to share with you my experience in completing my 21-day Cleansing Detox.  I've done this before about 6 years ago and successfully lost about 20 lbs during the cleanse and was able to remain a vegetarian for a couple years.....

....then I got weak for the chicken!  :)

But that's life.  In fact, I've experienced a lot of life since that time.  Much of my life - stress, over-consumption of food, alcohol and caffiene,career dissatisfication -  has caused me to declare this as the  perfect time for me to complete a detox.  I've tried many times in recent years and was only able to do it for 3 days or so.  My mind was not in it.  But when you do make up your mind, it will come easy.  And everything else in your life will line up to support your efforts. So far this cleanse has be almost effortless (that is a slight exaggeration!).

I am currently on Day 6.  The first few days are difficult, but you will learn more about that in a future post.  Until then, may you take great care of yourself first, so you can give love and caring to others.

Peace,
TeMika
